This addition marks yet another expansion for Sabiha Gökçen International Airport , known for accommodating short-haul flights, with the inaugural flight between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Cairo (CAI) taking off on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Welcoming its first flight, an Airbus A320 aircraft was greeted with the traditional water cannon salute at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.

Joining the roster of airlines at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Air Arabia Egypt became the 47th airline to operate in its network. The SAW-CAI route will feature reciprocal flights three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

"Serving 167 destinations"

With this new service, Air Arabia Egypt becomes the fourth airline to offer flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen to Egypt, and also the fourth member of the Air Arabia Group to operate out of Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The direct flights from Cairo add to Air Arabia's presence in Istanbul, bringing the total number of cities served by the airline in Istanbul to six. This includes flights from the United Arab Emirates' Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, as well as Casablanca, Tangier, and Fez in Morocco, now complemented by the new Cairo to Istanbul service.
