Türkiye has emerged as a significant destination for the global movie industry, thanks to its natural beauty, technical infrastructure, skilled workforce, and the incentives provided to foreign producers under the new cinema law.

In 2022, a total of 233 foreign productions, including 18 feature movies, were filmed in Türkiye, marking a 46% increase compared to 2021.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism data, in 2022, Türkiye hosted the shooting of 18 feature films, 30 TV series, 102 documentary movies, 46 television movies and programs, 27 commercials, and 10 music videos.

Major productions in Türkiye

Türkiye has previously hosted major productions such as the OSCAR-winning "Argo," James Bond's "Skyfall," "Charlie's Angels," and "Inferno," among others, and continues to attract new projects.

Most recently, the famous director Guy Ritchie filmed "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," a World War II story, in Antalya. The shooting took place in Antalya Demre, with a portion of the movie shot at the EXPO Exhibition Area. Approximately $15 million was spent on the movie iin Türkiye.

Among the movies shot in Türkiye are Guy Ritchie's "Operation Fortune," starring Jason Statham, one of the world's most famous action stars, and "Tiger 3," featuring Bollywood's prominent figures Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

New movie productions in Türkiye

The "Foreign Film Production Support" introduced with the new cinema law, promotional activities conducted by the Ministry, advantages in terms of locations, lighting, and workforce highlight Türkiye as an attractive destination for film production.

As a result of discussions for major projects carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it is expected that many important films will be shot in Türkiye in the near future.
