Türkiye tourism industry have been discussing effect of rental homes on hospitality sector that already reflected on reports of Türkiye Statistical Institute.
According to report, in the first half of 2023, while the number of tourist overnight stays in Türkiye increased by 32 million compared to 2019, almost all of this growth went to daily rental homes.
Homes are winning in overnight stays
According to a study conducted by the Tourism Databank, number of overnight stays in the first half of 2023 increased by 32 million to 219 million comparing same period of 2019.
During this period, almost all of the increase in overnight stays went to homes (private homes, rental homes, and relatives' homes).
While all other accommodation facilities able to increase their overnight by 139 thousand, overnight stays at homes increased by 38,9 million. Overnight stays outside of homes and hotel facilities decreased by 6.6 million.
What percentage of stays were in homes?
In the first half of 2023, %60.2 of overnight stays were in homes, while %35.6 were in accommodation facilities. Compared to 2019, the share of home rentals increased by %10, while the share of facilities decreased by %5.
