Thousands of FTI customers stranded abroad. FTI, which filed for bankruptcy on June 3rd and halted all operations, had tens of thousands of customers vacationing abroad. According to the DRSF, 65,000 customers who traveled with FTI and Big Xtra have returned home. However, as of June 10th, 15,000 customers are still on holiday abroad.

Hotels coercing payments from guests

In a shocking revelation, the DRSF stated that some hotels have been forcing FTI customers to make payments by not allowing them to leave the premises or even locking them in their rooms. DRSF General Manager Ali Arnaout commented, "While we understand the economic difficulties faced by local businesses, it is absolutely unacceptable to treat travelers in this manner and to overstep boundaries during this process. We had provided financial guarantees to both travelers and hoteliers to prevent such situations."
